SAT is the abbreviation of the Scholastic Assessment Test. It is an entrance exam held by The College Board several times in one year between October to June. It consists of various sections of reading, writing, mathematics, and optional essay writing. The test mostly comprises multiple-choice questions and is held in pencil and paper format. The test is held to check the student on an equal standard for whether they are ready for college and university or not. After the test, College Board reviews the test scores along with the grades from high school, recommendations awarded by the mentors or teachers to the student, his co-curricular activities, and also the self-written essays of the aspirants.

There are no peculiar eligibility criteria for SAT. There is no age limit and the high school clearance is also not necessary for SAT. You can take the exam as many times as you want.

In January 2021, the College Board reported that they will be taking off the discretionary SAT essay section after the June 2021 organization. So then there remain 3 sections that are as follows

• The reading section has 52 questions. The time for attempting them is 65 minutes. It comprises questions related to vocabulary in a certain context
• The Writing section has 44 questions and that needs to be done in 35 Minutes. The questions here are mostly related to grammar correction.
• The math section has 58 questions and the time allotted is 80 minutes out of which you are allowed with a calculator in the first 55 minutes and the next 25 minutes are without a calculator. The questions include algebra, problem-solving & data analysis, a passport to advanced math, and additional topics (geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus)

The registration for the SAT exam closes 5 weeks before the test date. But it is always recommended to get yourself registered 8 to 10 weeks before the test date. For the registration, you first need to create an account on the website of the College Board and register yourself as a student. Then you will be needed to provide some personal and academic information to the website. Personal information should be commensurate to the one written on your passport. In the end, you will be required to submit a fee through your debit card.

The exam fee for SAT is different with essays and without essay tests. Without an essay, the fee is 104 dollars and with an essay, the fee is 117 dollars.
